A similar event was held in 2004 and 2006 at the same venue and the organisers decided to come back again due to the encouraging response from entrepreneurs and shoppers.
The event was jointly organised by the Terengganu government and Terengganu Entrepreneur Development Foundation (YPUT).
Last year, the event was held at Johor Baru City Square shopping centre in conjunction with Visit Terengganu Year 2008. Similar events were also held in Miri and Alor Star.
“The event is one way of promoting products from our small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as selling Terengganu as a tourist destination,’’ said Datuk Mohamed Awang Tera.
He said the organisers had received an overwhelming response from SMEs wanting to take part in the event here, but they had to limit the number to 46.
Mohamed is also the state executive councillor for Rural Development, Entrepreneur and Cooperative said YPUT would set up three T’shoppe outlets outside Terengganu this year.
He said the outlet at the Malacca International Trade Centre would open this month while YPUT was still looking for suitable locations in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru.
The 24-hour outlet was introduced early this year with an objective of assisting the Terengganu SMEs and entrepreneurs to promote and market their products collectively. Currently, there are four outlets in Terengganu.
“We are planning to incorporate the T’café concept in the new T’shoppe outlets, especially at major towns and main growth centres,’’ said Mohamed.
He said apart from selling food and non-food items at T’shoppe, T’café would serve authentic Terengganu dishes in a modern café setting including al fresco dining, with WiFi facility.
