Petronas Gas spends RM1bil to overhaul Kertih plants

Petronas Gas Bhd expects to spend over RM1bil in the next three years to overhaul two of its gas processing plants (GPP) in Kertih, Terengganu to improve efficiency.

Chairman Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said there were two GPP that were getting old and needed to be overhauled.

“We have some major expenditure going forward. We need to revamp 2 of our gas plants as they have come close to their useful lifecycle, which is about 20 years,” he told reporters after the company’s AGM yesterday.

Currently Petronas Gas has six GPP, four of which are in Kertih and two in Paka, Terengganu.
The two gas plants undergoing an overhaul and possibly an upgrade are GPP 2 and GPP 3 in Kertih.
